2010: The Year of Internet Video

Happy belated new year everyone! Nikki and I hope you all had a terrific holiday season, and want to wish each of you a happy and prosperous 2010!

The new year has already been a busy one here at OrthoMedia, and we're so excited and thankful. Just after the new year, we traveled up to beautiful Washington state to shoot custom videos for Dr. Scott Ostler in Richland, Washington, and we're in the process  now of finalizing his videos for placement on the Ostler Orthodontics website. (Hopefully the videos will be up in a couple of weeks, and we'll be able to show them off to everyone.) Our thanks to Dr. Ostler, his super cool TC Tracy, and the rest of the staff for making our visit to Richland enjoyable and productive!

As I write this, we're clear across the country in lovely Gainesville, Georgia, getting ready for another video shoot tomorrow morning. Then, it's back here to Georgia in a couple of weeks for yet another shoot. (Props to all of these forward-thinking orthodontists in Georgia!) And we've got a few more projects in the works over the next few months. So, as I said, the new year has been a busy one for us, and we feel so blessed to be able to do what we love, travel to so many places, meet so many great people, and help them market their practices in the process.

To add to the craziness, we'll also be moving in the next few weeks, to a new location on the outskirts of Austin in the beautiful Texas Hill Country... which we're excited about as well! So if you happen to be in the Austin area, look us up... and we'll be happy to treat you to some Salt Lick Barbecue and an icy cold Texas beverage. :)

All of this activity is leading us up to our first-ever appearance at the AAO annual session in Washington, DC the first week of May. We have secured exhibit space, and look forward to meeting new friends, catching up with old ones, and spreading the word about the power of internet video!

Speaking of internet video, 2010 stands to be a remarkable year for the growth of internet video... and you need not look far to see proof that this explosive trend is growing faster and more widespread than ever. I was reading a blog on "The Motley Fool" (an excellent outlet for news and opinion on business and investment) recently, which stated quite well that the "two primary drivers of technology today are video and the internet." The article continues:

"Consumer consumption of video continues to accelerate. The global fascination with video continues to grow as viewership over TV’s, PC’s and now mobile devices is rising on all 3 screens. Large PC video sites like YouTube and Hulu get the headlines yet there are 1000’s of websites that primarily feature video. Every major global media company is now strongly engaged in monetizing video and video is now a feature on just about every website created. The proven historical growth of video isn’t about to change."

Right on! Internet video is not a fad. It's not a gimmick. And those who embrace this technology now (and use it to their advantage) are going to be light years ahead of those who continue to believe that internet video is little more than a passing curiosity. And the thing that excites me even more than the growth of internet video is the "spilling over" of ths technology to mobile devices, gaming consoles, and internet-ready televisions.

This revolution is just beginning, y'all. And it's going to be a heck of a ride.

So... yeah... a lot happening here at OrthoMedia. Call us today, and let's get something happening for you!

Take care everybody! Until next time...

~ Dusty
